Privacy policy
Where Suwatte keeps your data, what leaves your device, and the controls available to you.
In short. Suwatte has no account, advertising, or developer-operated product analytics. Your library is held on your device and in your private iCloud storage. Requests go directly to the Sources, Servers, and metadata providers that you choose. We receive information when you contact support or visit this website, and Apple can provide opt-in App Store diagnostics.
1. Who we are
Suwatte ("we", "us") is responsible for the limited personal data described in this policy. We are based in Canada. Contact us at help@mantton.com.
This policy applies to the Suwatte app for iOS and iPadOS, this website, and support messages sent to us. It does not govern Apple or a Source, Server, metadata provider, or website that you choose to use.
2. What we receive
The app contains no developer-operated analytics or crash-reporting SDK. It does not send us your library, reading history, search terms, device identifiers, location, Server addresses, credentials, or file contents. It contains no advertising SDK and does not track you across apps or websites.
We receive information in three circumstances:
- Support. If you contact us, we receive your email address, message, and any logs or attachments that you choose to send.
- Website delivery. The site contains no analytics or advertising code. Its host may process ordinary request data, such as an IP address, user agent, requested page, date, and time, to deliver and secure the site. The site stores your colour-theme choice in your browser's local storage.
- Apple diagnostics. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple can provide us with privacy-protected App Store usage metrics and crash or diagnostic reports. Apple controls this collection and your consent.
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
3. Data on your device
The app stores the data needed to provide its features, including:
- your local catalogue, library entries, collections, flags, and Read Later items;
- titles, descriptions, tags, cover references, and other publication metadata;
- reading progress, history, sessions, insights, bookmarks, notes, and reminders;
- Source lists, installed Source plugins and settings, and Source website data such as cookies;
- Server configurations and cached Server metadata;
- local files, downloaded chapters and publications, thumbnails, and caches;
- app preferences and diagnostic logs; and
- backup files that Suwatte creates at your request or on the schedule you select.
The app uses file timestamps, system uptime, and user defaults for file management, elapsed-time measurement, and preferences. It does not use these system interfaces to identify you.
4. Apple services
Suwatte uses several separate Apple services. Apple handles data in those services under your Apple Account and Apple's privacy terms.

Apple documents that records in a private CloudKit database are not visible to the app developer in the developer portal. They count against your iCloud storage and are available to the app while you use the signed-in Apple Account.
5. Services that you connect
The app makes these connections only to provide a feature that you configure. The destination receives ordinary network information, including your IP address and user agent, and handles the request under its own terms and privacy policy.
5.1 Sources and websites
A Source is a third-party plugin that runs on your device with network access. It can initiate requests, use website cookies, and use ordinary and secure storage scoped to that Source. It can send search requests, authentication data, library actions, or reading progress to the site that it supports. Install Sources only from lists that you trust.
5.2 Komga, Kavita, and OPDS Servers
Requests go directly from your device to the Server address that you enter. Suwatte can send credentials and reading progress to a compatible Server. Remote Servers must use HTTPS. The app permits HTTP only for a local-network Server and warns before sending credentials without HTTPS.
5.3 Comic Vine and Metron
If you connect one of these optional metadata providers, Suwatte can send a title, year, publisher, series identifier, or issue number derived from a local file or its metadata. It uses the response to match and enrich your local catalogue. Automatic matching is a setting that you can turn off.
6. Backups
A Suwatte JSON backup can contain Source-list addresses, installed-Source metadata and settings, title metadata, library entries, flags, collections, progress, chapter and page state, bookmarks, linked titles, and Read Later items. It does not contain credentials, installed Source plugin files, cover thumbnails, publication files, or downloaded chapter pages.
A Suwatte backup is different from an Apple device backup, CloudKit sync, iCloud Drive, and iCloud Keychain. An automatic Suwatte backup remains on the device until you export or delete it. You control any location to which you export it.
7. Retention and deletion
- Device data. It remains until you remove it in the app or delete the app. Files stored outside the app's container remain where you placed them.
- Apple services. CloudKit, iCloud Drive, key-value storage, and synchronizable Keychain data can outlive one local installation. Manage them through the app's individual controls and the iCloud controls that Apple provides for your account. Deleting the app from one device does not by itself erase every cloud copy.
- Connected services. Remove a Source, Server, or metadata-provider connection to stop future requests. Contact the service operator to exercise rights over data that it received.
- Support. We retain support messages only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain a record of the resolution, protect the service, or meet a legal obligation.
- Website preference. Clear this site's data in your browser to remove the saved theme.
8. Security
Credentials are stored in the operating system Keychain and are omitted from Suwatte JSON backups. Private CloudKit data is protected by Apple's service security. Remote Server and metadata-provider connections use HTTPS; local-network Servers can use HTTP only under the app's local transport policy.
A third-party Source has network capabilities and can be unsafe or defective. Source isolation reduces access between Sources, but it does not make an untrusted plugin trustworthy.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what personal data we hold about you, request a copy, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or complain to a privacy authority. Write to help@mantton.com. Because the app sends us no account, library, or telemetry data, a request to us will normally concern support correspondence or website records. Data held by Apple or a service you connected must be managed with that provider.
10. Children
Suwatte is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a child. The content available in the app depends on the files and services that the user configures. Safe Mode hides content that third-party metadata marks as mature, but it is not a parental control and cannot guarantee that content is classified correctly.
11. Changes
We may update this policy when the app, website, or service providers change. The version and effective date at the top identify the current policy. Material changes will be called out where practical.
